Prepartion, you cannot have a quality paint job or finish without it. Period. Yes, knowledge, experience and quality of materials are important factors but excellent preparation is indespensible.
The highlights of our system are as follows:
If the weather conditons are right and the surfaces are dry, we are finally ready to paint. As needed, we will use a mositure meter, to be sure the surfaces are dry and ready to recieve the new paint coating.
Typically, we spend about 65 to 75% of our time on preparation. To break this cycle, you may want to consider our XPS Service, which employees annual inspections, spot maintenance, and repainting with one coat before the needed for moderate to extensive prepartion arises again.
*Some surfaces like wood or masonite siding become so dry and porous that it’s wise, even essential, to reprime the entire surface/material. Quality primers are essential to the life and longetivty of any quality paint job.
**All repairs cost are not always sighted nor included in the cost of the original bid. Some problems are related to faulty gutter or bad roofing. If this is the case, we pass the information along to the home owner but assume no responsibilty for the cost of repairs.
Typically the home owner is responsible to clear off all horizonatal surfaces, empty out the china cabinet, remove fragile items from the work area and disconnect any electronical devices.
Paolino Painting typically is responsible for the area or room set-up. This may include moving larger peices of furniture to an adjacent area or to the center of the room. The less cluttered/stuff in the work place, the better!
Occasionally. we will suggest or require that a professional moving/storage service be called in, to move that special item, whether it’s a piano, a valuable piece of art or an antique.
The following is a general summary of our preparation effort, as it relates to painting walls, ceilings and woodwork. Woodwork is usually done in an oil/alkyd based product.
Special note: if a client has an allergic reaction to paints in general, we can search out and use a speciality product for them. Also with our established clientel, many of them will have us service their home’s painting needs, while they are out of town.
Here’s a summary checklist:
This is an excellent summation of our preparation process, for the interior painting of most rooms. Typically latex products are used on the walls and ceilings and an oil/alkyd base product is used on woodwork and cabinetry items.
Historical restoration can literally be the restoration of a historical building or home. This type of service is only provided on an hourly or cost plus basis, regarding financial terms.
We also use it as a catch phrase for our perfectionistic customers who are in a league of their own. This service is only performed on an hourly basis as well. Materials are typically at cost plus.
Please note: the overwhelming majority of our clientel have very high standards and we have consistently met, and exceeded, their expectations.
The historical, perfectionist level is above and beyond this normal level of high quality.
